Minty Mayhem

I’ve been pretty obsessed with mint lately. Mint nail polish, I mean. I went around hunting for a decent minty coloured polish and was so happy when I found Turquoise Lagoon by Maybelline New York. Yes, I know, the name says Turquise. But hey, it’s the closest colour I found to what I was looking for.

Anyway, I’ve done 3 manis with this colour so far – one for my sister and two for myself, and I have loved everything about this polish. Well almost. Take a look at my manis and read on for my pros and cons about Turquoise Lagoon.

Angel Nail Studio Vinyls
Sparkly silver and mint mani i did for myself.

This has been one of my favourite manis so far. I love everything about it, especially the fact that it was so simple to do. I’ve used Turquoise Lagoon and Dazzling Diva by Maybelline India, along with my trusty Base Briliante express finish top coat. And the fish scale/mermaid stencils are from Angel Nail Studio.

Nail matinee
Stamping nail art I did for my sister

This time, my sister requested a mani to go with her outfit for a party. She absolutely loves the lace patterns from my Born Pretty stamping plate BP-02, and that’s what’s she wanted. For this one I’ve used Turquoise Lagoon by Maybelline India, stamped on the design with stamping polishes from Nisha’s Nail Matinee, and topped it with Revlon’s Matte top coat.

Half moon glitter
Half moon glittery mani i did for myself

This half moon is just Turquoise Lagoon and the glitter is Jakmak by Chamki nails sponged on. To create the half moon effect, I used French Tip guides I found on eBay. You can also check out other ways to half moon at my other post here. 🙂

Anyway, back to Turquoise Lagoon.

1. Beautiful formula
2. Express dry – dry in 40 seconds
3. Opaque in 2 coats
4. Looks great matte

1. Staining when no base coat is used
2. Not ideal for use with vinyls and water marbling (because of it’s quick-dry formula)

Overall, I give Turquoise Lagoon 4 out of 5. I really love the nail polish. There’s also another Turquoise shade in this same range that I need to try out. In the meanwhile, which is your favourite minty shade? Let me know in the comments.
